6th International Symposium on Modern Optics and Its Applications (ISMOA) 2007
    Oleh : Alexander A. Iskandar
Kamis, 8 Februari 2007 (19:14 WIB) dari IP

    Bandung, 6 10 August 2007

Recent advances in the field of optical communication and information
processing technology has drawn on the important developments of novel
functions arising from non-conventional optical materials and device
structures, such as nonlinear optical materials, the rare-earth based light
emitting metalo-organic complexes, materials with negative indices and photonic
crystals, just to name a few. These developments have led to an extended list
of noval applications of modern optics, enriching the landscape of research
activities and contributions of photonic science and technology.

In response to the developments mentioned above and their potentially great
impact on information technology, the Physics of Magnetism and Photonics
Research Group, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institut Teknologi
Bandung has organized the annual International Symposium on Modern Optics and
its Applications (ISMOA) since 2001. Motivated by the encouraging results of
and responses to those events, we have decided to resume this meeting next year
on a biannual basis. To be exact, we are now in the process of preparing ISMOA
2007 to be held between 6th -10th of August 2007 in Bandung. As we did in the
past, this meeting will combine a 2-day tutorials with subsequent 3-day
seminars. The official announcement of the event has been posted on the website
at . From our past records, we expect a
total of over 100 participants from the ASEAN countries as well as the advanced
countries. Among these, about 30 contributing speakers are expected to present
their recent research results, in the event which will be further highlighted
by about 15-20 invited speakers from internationally reputable institutions

This meeting, as its predecessors, is aimed at providing the much needed forum
of scientific communication and interaction among distinguished scientists
working in the field of modern optics and its applications to information and
communication technology as well as its applications to bio-medical sensing and
    imaging (biophotonics)

In turn, the seminar on the latest research results will present the state-if-
the-art development in the field and help to chart our future research

This event is also designed to offer the opportunity of making direct contacts
for the young Indonesian scientist and students with well-known scientist
abroad, and thereby fostering the existing research collaborations and
extending international research networking for the future.

The scope of research results to be presented and discussed in the Symposium
    covers the following topics concerning
    New Photonic Materials
    Biophotonics and Biomedical Optics
Modelling and Fabrication of Photonic Devices and Integrated Optics
Optical Periodic Systems and Photonic Crystals
Surface Plasmon, Near Field Optics and Super Lens
Nonlinear Optical Phenomena, Spectroscopy and Optical Solitons
    Nano Optical Science and Technology

    Agenda of Activities

The first two days (6th 7th August 2007) are allocated to tutorial workshop
consisting of lectures and demonstration. While, the last three days (8th
10th August 2007) are devoted to the symposium proper during which recent
research results are presented in oral and poster sessions
